Background
With the launch of the Paris Agreement's Enhanced Transparency Framework, all countries were required to submit their first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR), in accordance with the modalities, procedures and guidelines (MPG) by the end of 2024, and to update it with a biennial frequency. In addition, all countries are required to submit to the UNFCCC a national inventory report (NIR) - consisting of a national inventory document (NID) and common reporting tables (CRT) - either separately or as part of the BTR. The development and submission of NIRs implies a considerable increase in the amount, detail and accuracy of information to be submitted on national GHG inventories, especially for developing countries. While many countries in the region already have the skills to develop GHG inventories, the task of reporting on inventory development processes and the use of the new common formats (NIDs and CRTs) can become a major challenge if the right tools are not in place. For this reason, CBIT-GSP has developed the CBIT-GSP Template for the National Inventory Document with the objective of providing a standardized and editable NID template. In response to this context, CBIT-GSP will hold a webinar that will include an initial session for the presentation and application of the CBIT-GSP NID Template, followed by an experience sharing on the application of the template with experts from Panama and Chile, for which the template was released in its Spanish version in autumn 2024.
Objective
Encourage and facilitate the exchange of experiences and lessons learned across the different Climate Transparency Networks for the planning, development, finalization and timely submission of the national inventory document to the UNFCCC and the application of the CBIT-GSP Template for the NID.

The webinar targets experts and technical personnel working on the Inventory preparation and reporting, across all countries of the nine Climate Transparency Networks where the NID template will be launched in English language. The webinar will be held in English.
