The self-assessment tool is a questionnaire with 4 sections, covering the required areas of the Enhanced Transparency Framework. The Enhanced Transparency Framework was created through the Paris Agreement to monitor, report and review information relevant to the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the agreements that followed it.
The purpose of the Enhanced Transparency Framework is to provide:
a) Clarity on climate change action
b) Clarity on support provided and received
Within this framework, Parties to the UNFCCC are to regularly provide information on:
a) National greenhouse gas inventory
b) Progress made in implementing and achieving Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)
c) Climate change impacts and adaptation
d) Financial, technology transfer, and capacity-building support needed and received
The information collected through the self-assessment tool helps to define the level of country capacity to implement the Enhanced Transparency Framework and to identify existing gaps and needs.
Country Focal Points have a unique link to the self-assessment tool of their country. After they complete the self-assessment, the information is analyzed and a summary is published in the country page within the Climate Transparency Platform
