The Paris Agreement Transparency Accelerator is a capacity building initiative of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of State to help developing countries produce high-quality Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) under the Paris Agreement Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF).
To help developing countries meet the new ETF reporting requirements, the Transparency Accelerator offers direct technical assistance and useful capacity-building tools.
Technical Assistance
Technical assistance under the Transparency Accelerator includes helping developing countries improve their technical and institutional capacity through a learning-by-doing approach. The U.S. EPA has developed this approach with more than two decades of experience preparing the Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks and lessons learned from working alongside developing country experts.
Tools
- U.S. EPA’s Toolkit for Building National GHG Inventory Systems includes a set of templates, tools, and supplemental materials to institutionalize the process of preparing a GHG inventory.
- Sectoral emissions tools, such as the Agriculture and Land Use GHG Inventory Software, guide users through sector specific emissions methodologies based on their available data.
