A regional technical workshop on the Technical Expert Review (TER) under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) is taking place from 27 to 29 May 2025 in Ankara, Türkiye. Co-organized by CBIT-GSP in collaboration with FAO, UNFCCC CGE, UNEP, and UNDP, and hosted by the Government of Türkiye, the event convenes transparency experts and national coordinators from across Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Eurasia to strengthen their readiness for the review of Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs).

Over three days, participants will engage in hands-on exercises, simulations, and discussions to deepen their understanding of the TER process, including pre-, during-, and post-review stages. The sessions focus on key reporting components such as national greenhouse gas inventories, tracking of NDCs, and the application of IPCC and ETF reporting tools. Countries are also exchanging experiences and lessons from their BTR1 submissions, identifying capacity-building needs and formulating strategies to improve future reports.

The workshop marks a critical step in building regional capacity for climate transparency, as countries aim to meet their reporting obligations under the Paris Agreement while enhancing ambition and cooperation. By fostering dialogue and shared learning, the event supports the long-term goal of robust and credible climate data systems that can inform action and attract international support.
