Countries of Central Asia and transparency partners meet in Ashgabat to discuss NDC 3.0 and the role of transparency in this process

14th of May 2025, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan: a Parallel Session “Advancing NDC 3.0 through Climate Transparency Actions and Regional Cooperation in Central Asia” was held to facilitate a dialogue among government representatives of Central Asian countries and international partners to advance NDC 3.0 implementation, enhance technical support, and promote regional cooperation on transparent climate actions in Central Asia.

The speakers highlighted the importance of promoting low-carbon strategies, climate reporting, and regional cooperation on transparency and discuss available technical support for the successful implementation of NDC 3.0.

The key take-away messages from this session, are:

  1. Central Asia’s region stays committed to the Paris Agreement by ensuring that their updated commitments (Nationally Determined Contributions - NDC 3.0) are ambitious, actionable and aligned with Enhanced Transparency Frameworks (ETF).
  2. The participants recognized the support provided by multiple organizations, such as CBIT-GSP, ReCATH, FAO and UNDP national projects on transparency, NDC partnership and GMH, in leveraging transparency and improved climate reporting in NDC 3.0 planning.  
  3. The dialogue among governments and international partners will continue, fostering technical support, sharing best practices, and mobilizing financial resources to assist Central Asian nations in transitioning to a low-carbon future while enhancing climate reporting mechanisms.

This parallel session was delivered in the frameworks of the 7th Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2025), taking place on 13-14 of May, 2025, in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. More information about the conference is here.
