OVERVIEW

The Commonwealth Secretariat is the main intergovernmental agency and central institution of the Commonwealth of Nations. It is responsible for facilitating consultation and cooperation among its 56 member countries.

The Secretariat supports member countries through advocacy, convening, technical assistance, capacity building and evidence-based research and analysis to inform decision making. The Secretariat’s Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub (CCFAH) supports small and other vulnerable countries to have improved access to climate finance, by embedding experts known as Commonwealth National, Regional and Thematic Climate Finance Advisers in relevant government departments and institutions to support grant applications, capacity building – both human and institutional, as well as cross-Commonwealth cooperation, and sharing of knowledge and experiences.

The Commonwealth Secretariat also works extensively in the space of gender and climate change.
