Background
The Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency -Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP) is a global climate transparency project supporting developing countries in the transition to the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement. The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and executed by the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC).
The CBIT-GSP project includes various support modalities, notably its ten Regional Transparency Networks, which were launched in February and March this year, and through which support to countries is provided at the regional and national level.
A major cornerstone of the CBIT-GSP project is the establishment of a Climate Transparency Platform, serving the global climate transparency community, including developing countries, UN agencies, support providers, and practitioners. The Climate Transparency Platform both merges and continues the CBIT Platform and the previous Global Support Programme, while expanding the scope to the wider transparency community.
