Collaborate

This May, the vibrant city of Tokyo will not only blossom with its famed cherry trees but will also play host to a significant event in the world of climate action. Hot on the heels of the inaugural Global Transparency Forum, the Climate Transparency Support Providers Meeting is set to take place on May 22, 2024. This event is organized by the Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency – Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP) in collaboration with UN Climate Change (UNFCCC), will bring together key institutions and countries offering support to developing countries in the area of climate transparency.

2024 is a pivotal year for climate action. With the first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) deadline approaching in December and new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) submissions by February 2025, the timing couldn’t be more critical. The Global Transparency Forum, taking place just days before our meeting, aims to unite representatives from developing countries, key support providers, and donors to enhance readiness for the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF). The outcomes of this Forum will directly feed into our discussions at the Support Providers Meeting.

The Climate Transparency Support Providers Meeting is more than just a conference; it's an opportunity for reflection and forward planning. Participants will delve into the outcomes of the Global Transparency Forum, exploring ways to integrate these insights into their ongoing and future projects. This meeting is crucial for ensuring that the support provided is not only continued but optimized to meet the growing and evolving needs of nations tackling climate change.

Why Coordination Matters

In the fight against climate change, coordination is key. Our meeting in Tokyo will address the critical need for improved collaboration among support providers. Enhancing coordination helps in streamlining efforts, avoiding duplication of work, and most importantly, making climate action more effective and far-reaching. By bringing together various stakeholders, we aim to create a unified strategy that leverages everyone’s strengths, thereby maximizing the impact of our collective efforts.

What to Expect

Attendees can expect a series of dynamic discussions focused on:

  • Reflecting on the key takeaways from the Global Transparency Forum.
  • Exploring strategies for integrating Forum outcomes into the work of various support providers.
  • Discussing and devising ways to enhance the coordination of support efforts across the board.

This meeting will not only provide insights into effective climate action coordination but will also offer networking opportunities with leading experts and practitioners in the field. Together, we can pave the way for a more transparent, accountable, and effective approach to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Don't miss this chance to be part of a crucial conversation in climate transparency.  Join us in Tokyo to reflect, strategize, and collaborate towards a more transparent and proactive climate action framework. Together, let's enhance our coordination and amplify our impact on the global stage of climate action. See you in Tokyo! #Together4Transpaprency!
