Jaypal works as Regional Network Coordinator for Asia region in the Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency - Global Support Programme (CBIT - GSP) project. He has more than 10 years of professional experience in the field of greenhouse gas reporting, accounting, projection at the national, district and city level; mitigation polices and measures; NDC development, tracking and projection; tracking of climate finance, technology transfer and support; participation in climate change negotiations at UNFCCC and IPCC sessions.
Prior to joining the UNEP CCC, he worked as a senior project officer at India's Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change and as a research associate at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. During this period, he led the preparation and submission of India’s three biennial update reports and third national communications, and LT-LEDS report to the UNFCCC. He is also a member of UNFCCC roster of experts and a qualified reviewer of national communications and biennial reports of Annex I parties. Jaypal holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the L. D. College of engineering in Ahmedabad, India.
