This free online course provides knowledge to build a sustainable national GHG inventory and to assess emissions from the land use sector. It provides an overview of the biological and physical processes behind GHG emissions and removals associated with forestry and other land use. In addition, it offers comprehensive guidance for calculating GHG emissions using the IPCC default method and emissions factors. Lastly, the course includes a series of exercises that allows the user to apply the acquired knowledge. The course is particularly useful for staff in national agencies to strengthen institutional and technical capacities. The training material can also help them to meet the requirements of the enhanced transparency framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement, built to ensure trust and confidence in countries’ contributions.
