The Paris agreement calls for an enhanced transparency framework. Tracking parties' progress in achieving their commitments is critical for the achievement of the Paris agreement goals and in assisting countries implementing efficient climate policies and prioritizing areas where action is most needed and where climate finance would deliver best outcomes. Countries in the region have various capacities and many initiatives have been initiated to assist them. This session will present the progress of the negotiations on the ETF just few months before the Paris rulebook is due, will present the current capacity building initiatives on transparency both for action and support, challenges faced, opportunities and progress so far.
