Background 

Climate change is a complex crisis affecting everyone, with women being particularly impacted due to persistent gender inequality. Effective climate policies must support women’s roles in resilience and zero-carbon development by addressing structural gender inequalities. Since COP 7 in 2001, various decisions have emphasized gender considerations in climate policy. The Lima Work Programme on Gender, adopted at COP 20 in 2014, and the Paris Agreement in 2015 further promoted gender equality in climate actions. The CBIT-GSP project aims to facilitate knowledge exchange through a virtual workshop, allowing countries to share experiences and best practices in integrating gender perspectives into climate policies and reports. Moreover, CBIT GSP is developing a new toolkit for integrating gender in transparency reporting to support countries to enhance gender component in their NCs and BTRs. 

Objective 

The primary goal of the virtual event is exchange of information on current practice of gender mainstreaming in NCs, BURs/BTR, NAP, NDC but also learning and understanding of the gender perspective and potential improvements in transparency reporting. It aims to facilitate knowledge exchange regarding the integration of gender considerations into climate policy and reporting, using practical examples and experiences from the two regions: Eurasia and Central Asia and the Caucasus. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their advancements in addressing gender and climate change issues, as well as engage in discussions about the challenges and opportunities related to transparent and sustainable gender reporting.

Target Audience and Language 

The virtual exchange will bring together gender Focal Points, experts of gender, officers and gender practitioners from relevant ministries as well as experts from various sectors responsible for climate transparency reporting, climate policy development and climate from the Eurasia and Central Asia and the Caucasus.
