Background
The Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency – Global Support Programme (the CBIT-GSP) is a five-year global project, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and executed by the UNEP – Copenhagen Climate Center (UNEP-CCC).
The main objective of the CBIT-GSP is to provide streamlined support and capacity-building at the national, regional, and global level to assist developing countries in responding to the reporting provisions under the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement’s Enhanced Transparency Framework, and ultimately increase ambition for climate action.
The CBIT-GSP has established 10 Regional Networks across the globe to foster south-south collaboration, knowledge-sharing and learning among countries. The Regional Networks support the following regions: Anglophone Africa, Anglophone Caribbean, Asia, Central Asia and the Caucasus, Eurasia, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the Pacific, Francophone and Lusophone country networks. The latter two are supported in collaboration with UNDP.
With their emphasis on south-south learning, the Regional Networks are a crucial key element of the project, with each of the networks having a dedicated Regional Network Coordinator to engage countries, cultivate the networks and drive the work forward.
The meeting is targeted for 10 Regional Network coordinators of the CBIT-GSP project, who intend to gather for the Global Transparency Forum, which will held on 20-21 of May 2024. The meeting is preceding the Forum, to personally meet and discuss the way of strengthening the collaborative actions for transparency across the networks.
Objective
The main objective of the in-person regional network coordinators meeting is to exchange of experience on best practices, approaches and tools, used by various regional networks under the CBIT-GSP project, and to strengthen the south-south cooperation for transparency.
It is expected that the meeting will result in designing the transparency action plan with capacity building interventions and exchange of experience events determined under various regional networks for 2024-2025.
Target Audience and Language
The meeting is targeted for 10 regional network coordinators and the team of the global CBIT-GSP project. The event will be held in English.
